Summer

Summer 1

This half term our topic is 'We're all going on a minibeast hunt' We will begin our learning by finding out about different minibeast families that live in our school grounds.  We will explore some minibeasts more closely in our art sessions. We will use the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar to explore the life cycle of caterpillars and watch with our own eyes this transformation as we observe caterpillars change into butterflies!  We will also consider how we can keep ourselves healthy and how we grow and change.

In RWI we will continue to learn special friends sounds and how to read and write words with these sounds. We will also read and write more complex captions and sentences. The children will be encouraged to apply these skills in their independent writing through opportunities to write in the environment and through Drawing Club.

In our Maths sessions we will focus on the topics- counting on and back from different numbers, numbers up to 20 and numerical patterns.

In our RE this half term our topic is 'To the Ends of the Earth.' During this topic we will explore Pentecost and how the Holy Spirit is always a friend to us. We will also explore how the Parish and Church is a part of our community.
Summer 2

This half term our topic is 'We're all going on a summer holiday' We will begin our learning by investigating local history and seaside holidays then and now. During this half term we will also explore how we can look after our environment, especially linked to the beach. We will also create Father's Day Cards. We will finish the term with a self portrait to see how the children have changed and grown from when they first started to now.
