Journey of Faith

September
Baptism - The whole school explored the topic of Baptism, including role play of how a Baptism is carried out.
Gift Chaplain Awards - The Gift Chaplains give out awards, weekly, to children who have displayed our school's Gospel Virtues and Values.
October
Baptism - Father Kenneth showed the children from Year 1 how a Baptism is performed, detailing the order and symbols.
Harvest - St Joseph's celebrated Harvest through Mass and collecting food to donate to Plymouth Food Bank.
Care Home Visits -  The Gift Chaplains are part of an Intergenerational project, in which they visit residents at Nazareth House. 
November
Remembrance - The whole school joined for a Remembrance celebration and created pieces of art dedicated to this.
December
Advent  - The whole school came together to rejoice for the month of Advent. They did this through Mass, the making of Advent wreaths and regular exploration of the meaning of Advent.
Christmas Cards to Ukraine - St Joseph's created cards for children In Ukraine, this was done in partnership with a local Catholic charity.
Carol Service - KS2 performed, for parents and siblings, a range of hymns and carols. A group of children were selected to act as The Tablo, retelling the story of Jesus' birth.
KS1 Nativity -  The children of KS1 acted and sang the story of Jesus' birth for parents and sibling to watch.
Christmas Hampers - Staff donated food to be included in Christmas hampers which were then given to those in need.
January
Epiphany - Activities about The Epiphany were conducted across all year groups, there were many brilliant ideas of how the children would show their love for Jesus.
February
Shrove Tuesday - The children participated in Pancake Races, displaying wonderful fortitude through their participation and resilience.
Ash Wednesday - Father Kenneth and Mr Davies performed the blessing of ash on the forehead for Ash Wednesday. 
March
Stations of the Cross - Canon Mark shared the concept of The Stations of the Cross with children who visited the church. 
Palm Sunday - The children enjoyed role playing the story of Palm Sunday. They discussed how Jesus would have felt riding in on the donkey towards Jerusalem.
April
Easter - The children explored the story and the symbolism behind Easter through different activities.
Stations of the Cross - The children from Year 6 recreated The Stations of the Cross for the whole school to watch. 
May
Holy Communion - The children of Year 4 completed their Holy Communion at the Plymouth Cathedral.
Pentecost - Pentecost was celebrated by the whole school through a joint Mass, conducted by Father Kenneth. 
Mother Mary Procession - St Joseph's carried out a procession in honour of Mother Mary and the children brought in flowers to dedicate to her.
The King's Coronation - We supported the Head of our Monarchy through many celebrations and activites. 
June
The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ - The children created art work in the shape of a heart to symbolise the celebration of this event. 
July
Year 6 Leaver's Mass - The whole of St Joseph's gathered together for a Mass as witnesses of the Year 6 children progressing to Secondary School.
