Year 6

Welcome to Class 6,

I am excited to teach Year 6 for another year this year. This will be my fourth year in year 6 and my tenth as a class teacher. This year is a momentous year as it is their final year in primary school before they become the small fish in the big pond of secondary school again. Whilst the children will undergo SATs this year there is also many other opportunities for them to look forward to, such as: residential, the end of year play, trips throughout the year (theatre, Crealy, Houses of Parliament etc) and taking on further roles and resonsibilities.

Best Wishes
Sophie WT

Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday. Please make sure that your child arrives in school wearing their school PE kit. The children should also wear their usual school jumper or cardigan on these days. PE will take place outside and children will be able to wear hats and coats until they have warmed up for this fun, important and compulsory area of school life.
Important Dates

Monday 21st April - Bank holiday
Monday 5th May - Bank holiday
Wednesday 7th May - Theatre trip
Monday 12th - Thursday 15th - SATs week
Wednesday 21st May - Dartmoor Zoo trip
Homework

Hearing your child read can be difficult at this age, but as often as possible, ask your child questions about their reading book, challenge them to predict what will happen next and ask them to summarise what they have read so far. We are aiming for your child to read at home for 15 minutes, 4 times a week.  This will be monitored and discussed with your child each Friday.

Spellings will be issued at the beginning of the half term then tested on the each Monday.

Maths and English will be issued on maths.co.uk and spag.com and these will be interactive. The children will answer questions, submit their efforts and get real time feedback. This provides me with great feedback and insightful data analysis.
